Youth Programs
The Brain Waves Youth Program is a practical, evidence-based course where students will learn:
Transferable skills for life to optimise mental health, physical activity and social enhancement
Emotional safety, consciousness and resilience
Develop conscious lifestyle
Reframing, recognising and managing stressful situations
Breathwork & meditation practices
Physiological responses within the body to stress and anxiety
The benefits of gratitude & mindfulness
Opening candid conversations and breaking the stigma to open conversation
Normalising conversations around mental health
Identifying signs of struggling mental health or stress in yourself and others
Creating motivational and goal-setting
Peer support culture and recognise the importance of culture and leadership
PERMA (Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationship, Meaning and Accomplishment)
Our evidence-based program also addresses the Western Australian Health and Physical education curriculum lessons of:
· What is health
· Healthy habits of physical wellbeing
· Nutritional habits of mental wellbeing
· Managing stress in times of change and challenge
· Communicating and interacting for healthy wellbeing
Our program supports the content of these core elements by teaching our students through discussion, strategy, interactive activities and exploring core features within these lessons.
Brain Waves opens communication pathways for students in our program to explore these lessons and relate them to their life while improving their inner well-being as they transition into new life pressures and the high school environment.
Our program will suit schools inside and outside the region in their physical, health and outdoor education camps.

The creator behind Brain Waves, Simon Tien, pictured below, has a Master's in Mental Health and a Bachelor of Paramedical Science and has been working with all groups of people teaching surfing for over twenty years. He is a passionate teacher and passionate surfer who understands life's ups and downs.
